How it works

  1. The Cornerstone ministry is promoted by prison Chaplains, by materials distributed into the prisons, and by one inmate telling another.
  2. Inmates from across Canada write to the Cornerstone office asking to enroll in the Bible correspondence studies.
  3. Each student is assigned a personal trained Instructor who will grade their completed work and write them letters of encouragement.
  4. The student is sent the study booklets and accompanying books along with postage paid envelopes to return their completed work in.
  5. The student completes each course one booklet at a time and upon satisfactory completion of each course is awarded a certificate.
  6. After the completion of Level One, a student will receive a Graduation Packet
  7. Upon each course completion the student will receive a Free Book. These include a Study Bible and other books.
  8. Throughout their time with Cornerstone the student will receive other miscellaneous books and study helps to aid their study and understanding of God’s Word.

Free Bible Study Books

Essential Truths of the Christian Faith
The Reformation Study Bible
Mathew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible
  • R.C. Sproul’s “Essential Truths of the Christian Faith". When a student completes our first course, “Ultimate Questions", we are eager to send them this excellent work. This provides them with a great resource for researching topics as inmates often will do, particularly if they are a part of a Bible study group at their chapel or informally.
  • "Reformation Study Bible". When a student completes the next course, “Biblical Christian Truths" they have then reached the end of Level One. At that point we reward them with this excellent Study Bible which, in addition to a personal copy of the Bible text, provides them with faithful commentary and almost 100 short articles on important subjects.
  • "Matthew Henry: Commentary of the Whole Bible" (abridged). When a student completes the first course in Level Two, “Am I Good Enough: Learning to Live by God’s Grace", we provide them with this classic, time-tested whole Bible commentary.
In addition to this, students will receive other miscellaneous books for their course work and to supplement their reading or to simply provide them with an inspiring book.
